I worked at Surat Thani International School as a part time teacher for four years. My time there was hugely positive and this is down to the productive atmosphere and flexibility of the staff and management.

The school itself is a clean, safe and open environment which offers a fantastic learning space for the students. The classrooms are spacious and very well equipped with a variety of teaching resources. On top of this there is a library, gym hall, science room and learning center which all open up new teaching/learning possibilities. The school is also expanding in size year by year and is constantly getting better equipped to provide for the increasing amount of attending students.

The school staff are extremely supportive and are always ready and willing to help out teachers with anything they need. The work permit needed to reside in Thailand is provided for and support is offered to ensure new teachers settle well in Surat Thani. The staff also help to create a fantastic working environment with their hard work and dynamism.

The school organizes events each year which really help to set it apart from any other school the area. The Academic Expo is a perfect example of this. Students from every grade work alongside their teacher to prepare and present a project they have created. The variety in projects is always fantastic and it is great to see students enthusiastic and proud of the work they produce.

Monthly staff parties are also provided for the teachers and it is another prime example of STIS going above and beyond what is expected of an employer. There are even end of the year trips down to the beach, a fantastic way to end a school year after all of the hard work.

Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed my time at Surat Thani International School. It is a thriving and positive place for a teacher to work at and it has encouraged me to pursue teaching as a long term career.
